Argentine defender joins AC Milan casting

AC Milan have opened the casting for a new centre back. The Rossoneri are paying special attention to Argentine defender Facundo Medina.

In the last few matches AC Milan have demonstrated severe flaws in their back line. It was since 1998 that the Rossoneri had not conceded 7 goals in two consecutive league games. What has happened with Fiorentina and Sassuolo is unacceptable for a squad that aims to win the Scudetto.

Pioli was forced to do without Fiyako Tomori in these matches and his absence had an incredible impact on the team’s performance and defensive solidity. In his place, neither Gabbia against Fiorentina nor Romagnoli against Sassuolo managed to properly replace the former Chelsea centre back.

Thankfully, Tomori has fully recovered but the Rossoneri are aware that new signings are needed to avoid such a fiasco in the future. Ligue 1 has been a championship that has supplied many players for AC Milan in recent years. That’s why Maldini and Massara are monitoring Facundo Medina, another emerging talent from the French league.

Calciomercato reports that the Rososneri are looking at Medina with great interest. The 22-year-old Argentine defender had a great debut with Lens last season and is confirming his status in the new one helping Lens challenge for a spot in Europe.

Grown in the River Plate academy, Facundo Medina is a dynamic and aggressive centre back. His great form has not gone unnoticed with Atletico Madrid, Marseille and Manchester United also interested in his services. With his contract expiring in 2024, Medina is rated around 10-50 million euros. Bremer, Rudiger, Badè and N’Dicka are the other names on Paolo Maldini’s list of target. The casting is open.
