Junior Messias is blocking AC Milan’s mercato

After two long injuries Junior Messias finally back on the pitch but he has only one month to save his AC Milan future.

The recovery of Junior Messias was a welcomed news for AC Milan’s attack in a time where Ante Rebic and Rebic Giroud will be out for at least two weeks. The Brazilian attacking midfielder scored the decisive goal against Atletico Madrid but that remains his only contribution so far.

The 30-year-old has spent the majority of his time inured. In fact, Junior Messias has made only 4 appearances so far for a disappointing total of 118 minutes played. The lack of alternatives in that area of the pitch has penalized Milan a lot with Pioli in desperate need of proper alternatives for both Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers.

Tuttosport reports that the Rossoneri’s mercato is currently blocked by Messias. However, Messias has only one month to save his AC Milan career. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will decide whether to sign a new attacking midfielder/right winger in January based on Junior’s performances next month.

If the Brazilian fails to live up to expectations or continues to have physical problems, Milan will have no other choice but to invest on the market. Otherwise, the Rossoneri will concentrate the available funds to strengthen other areas.

Junior Messias joined AC Milan during the summer on loan from Crotone. The Rossoneri spent 2.6 million euros to have the Brazilian attacking midfielder and can make his transfer permanent at the end of the season for another 6.4 million euros, bonuses included. Time is ticking for the former Crotone to start performing.
