Conte tried all summer to sign AC Milan star

Inter coach Antonio Conte wanted to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie at all costs reveals Sky Sport.

Franck Kessie is becoming a central figure for AC Milan squad. Against Sampdoria, the 23-year-old central midfielder scored his 4rth goal in Serie A while he has also provided 3 assists in 10 league appearances.

In addition to goals and assists, Kessie’s performances have attracted universal praise. Alongside Bennacer, the Ivorian has formed a dam in the middle of the pitch. Ever since the lockdown, “the tank” has been performing like never before in his four years at the Rossoneri.

However, just a few months ago, Kessie seemed destined to leave. There were offers from the Premier League, with Newcastle and Wolverhampton eager to bring him in England while Monaco were close to sign him earlier. In Italy, Inter were the club who actively tried to purchase Franck Kessie.

Inter coach Antonio Conte wanted to sign Kessie at all costs last summer. The Nerazzurri were looking for a midfielder with those qualities. Aware that they would not be able to land Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, Conte quickly turned his attention to the AC Milan star reports Sky Sport journalist Sandro Piccinini.

It was widely reported during the summer that Inter proposed a swap deal between Franck and Matias Vecino. An option that was never considered by the Rossoneri management. The former Atalanta remained at Milan and is now playing a vital part in Sefano Pioli’s eleven. While Conte had to “settle” for Arturo Vidal.
