CorSera: Former Fiorentina coach to succeed Gattuso

The position of Gennaro Gattuso as coach of AC Milan has never been more shaky with several names being considered as his successor.

The air is tense at Casa Milan. Two weeks ago the Rossoneri were in fourth place in Serie A and one victory against against Olympiacos would have allowed them to qualify for the next phase of Europa League as the leading team of Group F. Now Gennaro Gattuso’s side are behind Lazio in Serie A and out of UEL.

The Rossoneri have failed to win a single match in the last four encounters and have scored only one goal. Too little and many are blaming coach Gennaro Gattuso for this difficult situation. The recent negative results have put in doubt his permanence at the helm of the Rossoneri.

Still the management hesitates to make a move on this front. And the main reason for why AC Milan do not want to change coach in mid-season is because there aren’t any convincing alternative on the market. However if the situation worsens the management will be forced to take a firm position.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, in addition to the usual names of Donadoni and Wenger, in the last hours AC Milan are also considering Francesco Guidolin and especially Paulo Sousa. There are no real contacts with either of these names but Paulo Sousa should be sees as the favorite if Gattuso is sacked soon. The former coach of Fiorentina received wide praise during his two years in Italy for the beautiful game of the Viola.
