Defender confirms AC Milan transfer

Ivan Strinic, Croatian defender of Sampdoria, has confirmed his imminent move to AC Milan. The 30 year old full back joins the Rossoneri on a free transfer and becomes the second signing of the Red and Blacks after goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

In a interview for Goal.com, he said: The season is now over, so I can say that I am no longer a Sampdoria player and I have signed a three-year contract with Milan. Probably the club will announce the deal after the end of the World Cup. When you have an expiring contract, a club can do two things: they can think about getting the most out of you or they can decide not to play you anymore.

That’s why I have only played only three games this year. The Rossoneri already wanted me when I was at Napoli and they waited for me saying that they did not care that I hadn’t played a lot this season. It’s a good thing and it will be great to become part of this historic club“. The Croatian defender then highlighted the problems he had over the past few weeks.

During spring I had problems with some bacteria that attacked me and I fought for three months. Now things have improved and I feel even more fit despite losing 4 kg. I’m happy to be a new team-mate with Kalinic, we get along very well”.
