Despite the shameful 2-0 defeat against the Croatian side of Rijeka, AC Milan qualified for the knockout round of Europa League as head of group D with 3 wins, 2 draws and one defeat. This competition is considered is the life saver for this season: Winning Europa League would mean direct qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Getting to the end is not easy. There are very strong teams, especially from this moment onwards where several teams ranked third in their respective Champions League groups will participate: teams like Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Napoli for example.
