Former Roma star is primary target for Milan in January

AC Milan have targeted Zenit Saint Petersburg player Leandro Paredes as their main midfield target for January.

Tuttosport reveals today an interesting backstory on AC Milan’s summer shopping. In fact the Rossoneri were negotiating throughout the summer the purchase of Leandro Paredes from Zenit Saint Petersburg but failed to reach a deal with the Russian club. The former Roma defensive midfielder remains a top target for the Red and Blacks and Leonardo is working to complete a move for January.

The lack of a second metronome in midfield could negatively effect the performances of AC Milan this season. Coach Gattuso has no proper replacement for Lucas Biglia and if 32 year old former Lazio has fitness or performances issues the team could suffer. A player like Paredes that has played for four seasons in Serie A would be the perfect fit for the Rossoneri.

In his first season in Russia Leandro Paredes made 39 appearances and scored 6 goals. The 24 year old defensive midfielder was one of Roma’s most important players but financial issues forced the Giallorossi to sell him last year for 27 million euros. Now Zenit value him at 35 million euros. The Argentine international would gladly return to Italy for Milan.
