CorSport: Gasperini to become new AC Milan coach on one condition

AC Milan want coach Gian Piero Gasperini to succeed Gennaro Gattuso. The Italian has performed miracles this season for Atalanta.

In a recent press conference AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso said he’s not thinking about resigning and still has two years of contract he intends to honor. However, the Rossoneri and Rino are destined to part ways at the end of the season with Gian Piero Gasperini the most likely name to succeed him at San Siro.

There are several names that the Rossoneri are considering but according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Gian Piero Gasperini is AC Milan’s top pick. The Atalanta coach has produced miracles this season reaching the Coppa Italia final and holding tight the fourth place in Serie A. Only three games separate Atalanta from a historic Champions League qualification.

Milan like Gasperini for the way he makes his teams play (great results while at Genoa too). The Italian is a big fan of modern attacking football and has implemented his ideas with great success in the last three years at Atalanta. In addition, Gasperini is notorious for his ability to develop young Italian and international players in a short time.

Gian Piero is open to the idea of joining AC Milan. After the failed experience at Inter he would like to prove himself again at the highest levels of Italian football and demonstrate to the Nerazzurri that they were wrong to sack in in 2011 after just 4 months in charge.

However, Atalanta’s possible Champions League qualification could complicate AC Milan’s attempts. The temptation to stay another year in Bergamo and lead Atalanta in Europe could affect Gasperini’s decision. But if Milan end the season in the top four things would be much more easier for the management. Gasperini could be the ideal coach to trust the new project of Milan.
