Gazidis announces the arrival of Ralf Rangnick

Rossoneri CEO Ivan Gazidis has announced the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as the new coach of AC Milan to Paolo Maldini.

Ralf Rangnick’s appointment as the new coach of AC Milan can be considered practically official now. Sky Sport reports that club CEO Ivan Gazidis has communicated to Paolo Maldini that the German manager will join the Rossoneri at the end of the season.

Red Bull’s Head of Sport and Development Soccer will be a typical Premier League manager also taking care of the transfer business of the club. That is Paolo Maldini’s current job and he has a contract until June 2022.

Ivan Gazids has offered the AC Milan legend to take a new role and become ambassador of the club. Maldini’s response will certainly be negative.

The Italian legend has refused in the past to hold honorific or representative positions. He always wanted to be able to influence the club’s decision making process.

Barring surprises, he will remain true to his original stance. Maldini is going to say goodbye to AC Milan at the end of the season just like his friend Boban did earlier. A short experience that lasted nearly two seasons and that does not appear destined to continue further, given that Rangnick will absorb his role as technical director as well as that of coach.
