Gazzetta: AC Milan put star defender on sale

The difficult financial situation of AC Milan could force new owner Elliot to sell some stars in order to fund moves for other players.

Following the recent change in management, new owners Elliot are starting to plan the AC Milan squad of next season. With only 50 million euros expected to be invested by the American fund for the summer transfer window the club must find fresh money from players sale. A forced move that could upset many Rossoneri fans.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red and Blacks have put captain Leonardo Bonucci up for sale. Apparently the Serie A giants wants to spare around 8 million euros per season that Bonucci earns at Milan. A couple of English clubs have been linked with the 31 year old centre back this summer and the Rossoneri hope to receive a bid of around 40 million euros for his services.

The Italy international joined AC Milan last summer in a shocking transfer from Juventus. Despite some initial struggles at the beginning of the season Leo formed a formidable defensive partnership with Alessio Romagnoli under the tenure of new coach Gennaro Gattuso.
