Gazzetta: All the wrong decisions of Eriksson

The moviola experts of La Gazzetta dello Sport analyze yesterday’s Europa League match at the Emirates between Arsenal and AC Milan and the referee’s decisions:

There is a huge black hole in the judgement of Eriksson (a multi-millionaire who has previously admitted that he “referees for fun): he gives Arsenal a non-existent penalty on indication from his behind-goal assistant Ekberg. Welbeck clearly dives and has no whatsoever contact with Rodriguez. A penalty which proved to be the turning point of the game. The referee should have punished Welbeck with a yellow and instead rewarded him with a penalty that puts the English back on track.

But that was not the only bad decision of the referee. Just after the equalizer, Andre Silva is inside the opposition area and fires a shot that touches the arm of Chambers. It’s a 50/50 decision but the referee considers it involuntary, penalty would have been acceptable too. In the second half (still 1-1) Silva always, comes into contact with Bellerin inside the area: clear penalty for the Rossoneri but Eriksson doesn’t think so. Right decision, instead, the yellow card shown to Suso.
