Gds: AC Milan have discussed midfielder January transfer on two meetings

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan have a serious interest in Houssem Aouar. Two meetings have been held to discuss a January transfer.

AC Milan have set their sights on another French footballer, not a novelty if we look at the trend of recent years. The latest target on the Rossoneri radar is that of Houssem Aouar, the 24-year-old Lyon midfielder whose contract expires at the end in all probably will not be extended.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that one of the reasons why the Rossoneri have set their sights on the French midfielder would be precisely his contract situation. Until recently Lyon were demanding at least €40 million for Aouar so getting him under very favorable conditions would be a great hit for the Italian champions.

AC Milan don’t want to wait for the end of the season and are instead negotiating a January transfer. The Rososneri first inquired about Aouar during the contract renewal talks for Pierre Kalulu. Both players are clients of the same agency, ICM Stellar Sports. Gazzetta reveals that, in recent weeks, Aouar’s agents have beet at least two more times at Casa Milan to discuss a potential January transfer.

Houssem Aouar has been playing at Lyon since he was 11 and is looking for a new experience for the first time. Furthermore, the presence of French and French-speaking players in the Rossoneri squad is truly massive, another element that must always be taken into consideration and favors a transfer to Milan.

Mix of Tonali and Bennacer

Aouar would be the ideal profile to reinforce a midfield without Franck Kessie and who this season, besides Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer, has had little to offer. Tommaso Pobega is the most accredited backup but has very specific characteristics, despite the fact that he has done well in recent months. Vranckx has yet to grow as well while Adli is not considered ready by Pioli.

The French central midfielder has characteristics that make him a bit of a mix of Tonali and Bennacer so he could easily get into squad rotations with the two starting midfielders. He would certainly be an important addition given his extensive experience with Lyon. The 24-year-old has made 221 appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 35 assists across seven seasons.
