AC Milan have already chosen who will be next coach

AC Milan have already chosen who will be the next coach if case Stefano Pioli is sacked before the end of the season.

AC Milan have decided to confirm Stefano Pioli despite the recent flop against Salernitana that occupy the last spot in Serie A standings. Cardinale and Furlani have decided give another chance after a series of calls they have had with some of the most important players in the squad. The players confirmed to the management that they are backing the Italian coach.

Nevertheless, it is clear that Stefano Pioli is on borrowed time. This will be the last season of the 58-year-old as AC Milan coach. The only questions is whether he will make it until the end of season or not. If the Rossoneri decide to sack Stefano Pioli then they will not bring an external name but rather promote Ignazio Abate to AC Milan coach.

There are a number of factors that have pushed towards this solutions. AC Milan will try to bring a top level coach at the end of the seasons but they don’t see valid alternatives currently available on the market. Antonio Conte is considered more a dream than a realistic option due to his high salary of over €7 million per season plus the necessary significant investments on the market.

Ignazio Abate has done a great job in charge of AC Milan Primavera. Unlike the first team, Milan Primavera finished the Youth League in first place dominating sides like Borussia Dortmund and PSG. They are 3rd in the Under-19 league, 4 points behind Inter. At the same time Abate has valorised a number players like Bartesaghi, Camarda, Simic, Traore and Zeroli.

A very good job from Abate that can be rewarded with taking care of the team until the end of the season. During the summer AC Milan will have the chance and serenity to make a final decision. Thiago Motta and Raffaele Palladino are the two frontrunners for the job. Palladino has done really good with Monza while Motta has turned Bologna into top 4 contenders this season.

There have already been contacts with the two coaches. Both, the former striker and the former midfielder, have their respective contracts ending in summer 2024 and are set to join bigger clubs. Napoli have tried to sign Thiago Motta while Juventus and Lazio have Palladino at the top of their list in case of Allegri or Sarri’s departure.
