Injury update on Bennacer, Kjaer, Diaz, Tonali and Mandzukic

AC Milan face Bologna tomorrow in their 20th Serie A. Kjaer, Brahim Diaz and Calhanoglu are out but a couple of players return.

The Coppa Italia derby, in addition to leaving a bitter taste for the end result, also added the injury numbers. In fact, the bad luck of the Rossoneri continues with Simon Kjaer, who left the match at the beginning of the first half, and Brahim Diaz replaced in the second half to make room for Rebic.

The Denmark captain has a problem on his left thigh and will be under observation in the next days so his absence in the Bologna match is practically sure. The Spanish attacking midfielder is dealing with a similar problem and is already receiving treatment.

Mario Mandzukic, Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer were absent against Inter due to injury. The three should be available for Stefano Pioli against Bologna. Hakan Calhanoglu has resulted negative in the last Covid test but won’t be joining the squad immediately.

In defense, without Kjaer and Pierre Kalulu not at his best form, so it will be Fikayo Tomori to make his first minute debut. The English centre back was solid against Inter and more is expected against Bologna.

The players returning from injuries will hardly be given the chance to play from the first minute, except for Tonali. Meite has not convinced in his appearances so far so the Italian will likely partner with Franck Kessie in midfield.
