Kalinic-Silva duel: Milan decide, only one will remain

AC Milan sports director Massimiliano Mirabelli is tasked with the tough job of offloading one between Kalinic and Andre Silva this summer.

With 63 million euros you could certainly buy a top level striker, one like Morata or Belotti but Milan thought otherwise. That’s the amount spent to purchase Andre Silva from Porto and then Nikola Kalinic from Fiorentina. The two strikers, that were expected to form the Rossoneri’s attack for the past season, strongly disappointed initial expectations. Few goals in total, struggle to integrate into the Rossoneri game, whistles by San Siro and the future hanging in the balance.

Today Il Corriere dello Sport, confirms that Patrick Cutrone is the only untouchable striker of AC Milan’s squad. The former Primavera surprised everyone finishing the season as top scorer of the Red and Blacks while there is a sort of duel between the two players in question to earn their confirmation.

Only one (at most) will remain for next season. AC Milan would like to sell and monetize at least one between Kalinic and Silva, an internal challenge that will be decided mainly at the World Cup in Russia, where both will be protagonists respectively with the jerseys of Croatia and Portugal. Performing in the most prestigious international competition would mean securing confirmation at Milan or finding a new team.

The situation at the moment is as follows: Kalinic has suffered big depreciation and the Rossoneri will struggle to sell him at 20 million, unless he excels in Russia with his national team. Silva is young and has more proposals, such as those by Wolverhampton and Monaco, in addition to the fact that he can also leave on loan to earn more play time. In short, in Russia, some play for much more things than the World Cup.
