Lazio reject Milan offer for Milinkovic-Savic, Leonardo to make last attempt

AC Milan have practically closed their shopping campaign but there remains one name for whom Leonardo will try everything till the last minute.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the latest news on the big summer dream of the Rossoneri fans: Milinkovic-Savic. Leonardo has never hidden his appreciation for the Serbian talent of Lazio, for which Milan has already presented several proposals but always finding the resistance of Claudio Lotito, all made even more complicated by the limitations of the Fair Play Financial.

According to La Gazzetta, the club has made an attempt for the “Sergeant”: a loan of over thirty million euros with the obligation to buy at around 50 million plus at least one technical counterpart. Lotito has judged the proposal well below expectations, sending it back to the sender accordingly. The Biancocelesti president insists on his initial price tag of 120 million euros, cash only, otherwise he will to try to renew Savic’s contract.

The Italian paper questions if AC Milan can make a new improved bid in these last days of the transfer window and how, if necessary, the offer will be reformulated. Leonardo and Maldini would like to give Gattuso a powerful midfielder able to make the difference, but their desire is in contrast with the need to keep the budget under the strict parameters of the FFP. Leonardo labeled the Savic track “difficult”, Elliott has no economic problems but UEFA’s monitor is always alert. AC Milan should increase the bid and try a last attempt if they really think the Serbian is worth another effort.
