Maldini gives stance on James and Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho and James Rodriguez have been offered to AC Milan. The Rossoneri are looking to sign a new attacking midfielder.

One of the top priorities of the AC Milan management is to sign a new attacking midfielder this summer. The departure of Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer has forced the Rossoneri to find an important player in order to fill the void in Stefano Pioli’s eleven. Paolo Maldini has a long list of targets.

Recently, two illustrious names have been proposed to AC Milan. Agent Jorge Mendes has offered Everton star James Rodriguez while Barcelona are ready to part ways with their most expensive signing ever, Philippe Coutinho.

James Rodriguez has all the ideal characteristics to play with the Rossoneri: experience, technique, leadership and a sense of goal. However, Maldini appeared rather cold at Jorge Mendes’ proposal. The reason is linked to the physical conditions and the many muscle problems that the 29-year-old Colombia international has had in recent years.

The same goes for Philippe Coutinho. Barcelona offered Coutinho to AC Milan when both clubs were discussing a possible move for Junior Firpo (who at the end will join Leeds). One of the most expensive transfers in world football, the Brazilian is an outcast at Camp Nou. Numerus injuries have prevented him from making a significant with impact with the Blaugrana despite the obvious talent.

AC Milan are not interested in such profiles. The great names alone are not enough to convince Paolo Maldini who is watching other players. The Rossoneri want to sign a physically reliable attacking midfielder that can guarantee an important number of goals.
