BREAKING: AC Milan sign Mike Maignan from Lille

AC Milan have completed the signing of Mike Maignan from Lille. The French goalkeeper has arrived in Italy for medicals.

Recent rumors about the possible transfer of Mike Maignan to AC Milan have just been confirmed. The 25-year-0ld French star will be the new goalkeeper of the Rossoneri.

Sportitalia reports that in midnight the Lille shot-stopper landed at Milan Linate airport. The player will undergo medical exams before signing a five-year contract with AC Milan. Maignan will earn 3 million euros per season and AC Milan will pay a transfer fee of 15 million euros (bonuses included) for his services.

Mike Maignan was a breakout for Lille this season. The French club stunned Ligue 1 edging PSG for the league title. The talented goalkeeper was one of the best in Europe this season recording 21 clean sheets in 38 Ligue 1 appearances.

Unfortunately the arrival of Maignan confirms the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Rossoneri have been unable to reach an agreement and the Italian goalkeeper is expected to leave on a free transfer this summer. The management has decided to stop waiting for Gigio to make up his mind.

The Rossoneri had offered Donnarumma a long-term contract of 8 million euros while his agent asked for 10-12 million. In addition, Mino Raiola was asking for a high commission fee. Apparently, even Champions League qualification was not enough to convince Donnarumma to stay. Mike Maignan will be the new number one of AC Milan next season.
