Milan, Kessie explains his military celebration

Franck Kessie has been one of the best signings this summer with excellent performances this season. Milan have secure an absolute beast in midfield.

Considered as one of the best on the field yesterday, in AC Milan’s home win against Spal, the Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie remains one of the few untouchables in the rossoneri’s home since his arrival last summer from Atalanta for 28 million euros.

Yesterday, the 20 year old midfielder scored his second seasonal goal with the red and black jersey after scoring in his Serie A debut with the rossoneri against Crotone. Always very particular Kessie’s celebration after his goals, when he likes to head towards Curva Sud and mimic the military greeting, with a straight hand resting on his forehead. It is a kind of celebration that now distinguishes the African talent of Milan, who while at Atalanta use to repeat the same performance in absolute continuity.

Kessie himself explained yesterday this celebration and the very intimate meaning behind this “military” gesture: “My father was a footballer in Ivory Coast, but then ended up in the army to serve his country. He died of illness shortly after i turned 11. When i score i like to do this kind of greeting in his honor.” A clear and touching explanation from the new rossonero, which hides a deep and personal meaning behind a simple gesture that suits him a lot, being a true midfield soldier.
