Milan decide Montella’s fate despite Sassuolo result
AC Milan face tomorrow Sassuolo in a match that is expected to be decisive for the future of Montella. The rossoneri are in great need of 3 points.
For several weeks there have been continuous talks regarding the future of Vincenzo Montella as AC Milan coach. His position does not look very safe at the moment, considering the disappointing results obtained till now by the rossoneri.
However, he continues to feel secure about his position as confirmed today in the press conference on the eve of Sassuolo-AC Milan. Meanwhile, Carlo Pellegatti, reporting for Premium Sport from Milanello, reiterated that Montella will remain on the bench regardless of tomorrow’s result at Mapei Stadium. The club has confirmed, after a recent days internal meeting, that Montella will lead the team even against Napoli. Pellegatti reports: “The club had as plan A Champions League qualification but for now plan B is Europa League qualification, and it is more feasible.”
In case of Montella’s sacking, the names that have been hypothesized recently have been those of Paulo Sousa and Walter Mazzarri. The internal hypothesis, that is, the promotion of Gennaro Gattuso’s in first team (now at the helm of Milan Primavera with good results) seems to be the best solution according to the fans, but the club does not share the same opinion perplexed by his lack of experience: “Montella’s guide of Milan offers the management – concludes Pellegatti – more security than the only alternative, Gattuso.“
