AC Milan inform defender that he will be sold

AC Milan and Mateo Musacchio will part ways at the end of the season. The club has informed the defender of its decision to sell him.

Mateo Musacchio will be the first defender of AC Milan to leave in the summer. The Argentine centre back, who had fallen down the pecking order behind Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia before the Serie A stop, will say goodbye at the end of the season after 4 years at San Siro.

According to reports from journalist Nicolo Schira, the Rossoneri have already communicated to Musacchio their intention not to extend his contract that expires in one year. The 29-year-old defender is on the market because the club wants to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The decision of the Rossoneri is also a repose to the threat of Musacchio’s agent that he would leave if he wasn’t considered a regular starter. AC Milan have put Mateo Musacchio on the market for a fee of €8-10 million with Valencia very interested in his services.

In the summer Milan plan to make considerable changes in defence. In addition to understanding the future of Donnarumma, there are only two names certain to stay: Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Gabbia. Even Kjaer is in doubt despite doing fine in his short time at San Siro. The permanent signing of Kjaer would cost ‘only’ 2.5 million euros.

Leo Duarte, on the other hand, who recently returned from his injury in October, could remain as fourth choice or leave on loan. In any case, Milan will need another central defender. Now the Rossoneri must decide whether to buy a regular starter, placing Gabbia as third in the pecking order, or to bet on the young Italian talent and sign a back-up.
