MN: Transfer updates on Simakan, Tomori, Conti and Calhanoglu
AC Milan are negotiating the signing of a new defender and the sale of Andrea Conti. At the same time the club is discussing Calhanoglu’s renewal.
Unfortunate situation for Simakan who twice has been close to joining AC Milan and risks losing his dream move again. It is not over yet, because the Rossoneri management is considering whether to wait for Simakan and invest in the player regardless or immediately focus on other names, but it is clear that the injury has complicated everything. Simakan’s agent the day before the official announcement of Strasbourg (he will stay out for two months), had denied the injury because initially it was only thought to be a minor problem.
Subsequent examinations revealed a more serious injury. The deal is at risk, but as Maldini said, it has not over yet. Reflections are being made at Casa Milan because the defender has been followed for months and it would be a real shame to let him go due to an injury. Nevertheless, it is right to evaluate every aspect of the story, the recovery time and a possible discount on the price that Strasbourg will very likely make.
However, Milan are considering other names for the defense so as not to be caught unprepared, some new ones such as Fikayo Tomori of Chelsea, an operation that could be completed on loan. Milan are already in talks with the agents and he is the Rossoneri’s plan B. Then there are old targets such as Ozan Kabak of Schalke, whose valuation is always high at 25 million euros, while the Rossoneri would like to reach a maximum of 17/18 million, bonuses included. The Turk has been close to Milan in the past and represents a valid alternative to Simakan. Celtic’s Ajer and Lens’s Bade are also on the list.
The negotiation between Milan and Fiorentina for the sale of Andrea Conti goes ahead. The full-back would like to play more and is not happy to have been overtaken by Calabria and Dalot on the right so joining the Viola is a logical choice for him. The formula is being discussed between the two clubs, and the key could be a loan with the obligation to buy for a figure of 6-7 million. Conti was bought in the summer of 2017 by Mirabelli and Fassone for 24 million euros from Atalanta but his adventure at Milan was not fortunate due to the rupture of the cruciate ligament twice. After Duarte, another defender could soon pack his bags.
Calhanoglu is enjoying his best period at AC Milan. He is one of the most respected players in the Rossoneri locker room and would like to stay. The management met with his agent Gordon Stipic today and the renewal seems more likely than before. Paolo Maldini has increased his offer to 4 million euros plus add-ons. The agent has lowered his demands to 5 million and the agreement is just a matter of time. The Rossoneri are confident.
