Mourinho looking at AC Milan to replace Wijnaldum

Roma coach Jose Mourinho is looking at AC Milan to find a replacement for the injured Georginio Wijnaldum.

Georginio Wijnaldum was one of Roma’s big summer signings. The Netherlands captain arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain but his Italian adventure has started on the wrong foot. The Giallorossi club confirmed today that the 31-year-old central midfielder has suffered a broken leg (tibia fracture) in training.

Wijnaldum is expected to stay out for many months most likely missing even the upcoming World Cup. A huge problem for Roma coach Jose Mourinho who did a great job convincing the former PSG star at join him in Serie A. Now the Giallorossi are back on the market to find a replacement before the mercato is over.

According to Il Tempo Roma are looking at AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to replace Wijnaldum. The 8-year-old French midfielder is not part of Stefano Pioli’s plans and the Rossoneri are working to cut short his loan from Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho appreciates what Bakayoko did in his first two seasons in Serie A with AC Milan and Napoli. Considering the limited time remaining until the end of the summer transfer window Roma are looking to sign a player who is available on the market and is familiar with the Italian league.

Roma are one of the possible options for Bakayoko who is also wanted by Nottingham Forest. AC Milan need to offload Tiemoue quickly or else they risk paying Chelsea a €20 million fee if his transfer becomes obligatory. That’s a scenario Paolo Maldini is trying to avoid.
