Serie A club behind Calhanoglu’s rejections of new Milan contract

AC Milan are trying to renew the expiring contract of Hakan Calhanoglu but they have been unable to reach an agreement so far.

Among the absolute priorities of AC Milan now is the contract renewal of Hakan Calhanoglu. The current deal of the 26-year-old Turkish playmaker expires in 9 months and the Rossoneri risk losing him for free in jut a few months. Talks have been going on for a while.

The problem is Hakan’s high demand. Corriere dello Sport reports that Calhanoglu has asked 5 million euros per season in order to renew his contract. Too many for AC Milan that do not seem willing to go beyond an offer of 3 million per season plus some bonuses.

Apparently there is a third interested party lurking behind the door. According to CorSportNapoli are paying close attention to Calhanoglu’s situation. Coach Gennaro Gattuso was the first to believe in the technique of Calhanoglu and Rino would love to reteam with his former player.

The ex AC Milan coach is reportedly working behind the scenes to snatch Calhanoglu and has offered Hakan an important role at his Napoli. Just like he has done with Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was promised to the Rossoneri but was convinced by Rino to join him at Napoli in the very last days of the summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri management has scheduled a another meeting with the agents of the former Leverkusen star for a fresh round of talks. An agreement between the parties would close any discussion on the future of the Turk but external temptations seem present.
