Paqueta responds to Benfica transfer

AC Milan and Benfica continue to negotiate a swap between Lucas Paqueta and young midfielder Florentino Luis.

The future of Lucas Paqueta remains a mystery. The AC Milan midfielder, acquired by Flamengo over a year ago for a fee of €38.4 million, has become a burden for the club.

An expensive player that has never fully exploded and unhappy to be on the bench. But selling the former Flamengo has not been easy for AC Milan with his market value suffering a huge dip and the Rossoneri risk registering a big loss.

In recent days, Milan have entered in talks with Benfica. The Portuguese club are interested in 22-year-old midfielder while Milan are big fans of youngster Florentino Luis. The two clubs have been negotiating a player swap.

AC Milan have informed Paqueta of their talks with Benfica in the last few days. According to the Brazilian press, the former Flamengo initially did not seem too inclined to move to the Portuguese Liga NOS. But ideas may soon change. Benfica is a top-level club that could give Paqueta a second chance to make his breakthrough in European.

Lucas Paqueta has taken time to carefully evaluate this option. But swapping the 22-year-old midfielder with Florentino is not enough because AC Milan also want a small fee from Benfica. Milan rate Paqueta at 30 million euros and also demand a minimal fee from Benfica in addition to Florentino Luis.
