Press conference, Gattuso & Kessie: “We played some quality football”

The Rossoneri coach Gennaro Gattuso and man of the match Franck Kessie spoke at the press conference after AC Milan’s 1-2 victory in Sardinia.

After the 1-2 win over Cagliari, thanks to Kessie’s brace, coach Gattuso spoke at a press conference at the Sardegna Arena. This is what the boss had to say:

A TOUGH MATCH

My team has shown to be in good conditions in the last 3/4 games. It’s difficult to play at this stadium and we knew that. Cagliari are a very intense team which can easily put you in trouble. It was a complicated match. My team showed that it can play the ball very well, although there is still room for improvement.

QUALITY FOOTBALL

We played some quality football in the first half. Thanks to Kalinic, we played well up front. We create a lot but we have to improve in finishing. Our wings did a great job today, they had a great interpretation of the game and gave little space to our opponents. This team has a lot of quality. I see great responsibility from the boys and a sense of belonging.

THE STANDINGS AND THE TRANSFER MARKET

The standings? We focus on one game at a time. We can’t afford to make calculations regarding the standings. We still have a long way to go. The management could have done something in this transfer market but I asked them not to because I believe in this team. Some of our lads are very young and so many of our players can still do much more”.

One of the best players on the pitch tonight, Franck Kessie, who scored his first brace in the Red and Black, spoke to Milan TV after the 1-2 victory over Cagliari. These were the Ivorian’s words:

I’m happy about the brace and I’m also proud. This is an important win for us, for our league ranking. It was a tough match. It’s always difficult to play away to Cagliari, but we wanted the three points at all cost”. Penalty specialist: “We started off on the right foot. After conceding the goal, we did not drop the intensity and we were strong enough to bounce back. Am I a penalty specialist? There is no secret, whenever I take one, I always watch the goalkeeper first”. Winning streak: “Now we have to focus on the match against Lazio, we must get a positive result. When you wear AC Milan’s shirt you must always win. We are truly a team”.
