QS: Elliot blocks two transfer moves by Mirabelli

From Elliott Management, the US fund has became the new owner of AC Milan a few days ago, there is the will to do a sort of general cleansing within the club.

After the sacking the Chinese board members and CEO Marco Fassone now it’s time for Massimiliano Mirabelli to say goodbye. The Rossoneri sporting director could soon be replaced by one of his colleagues or stay until the end of the 2018 summer session and then leave his desk at Casa Milan to someone else. Of course, the relationship between the current s.d. and Elliott fund has never been crystal. Today’s edition of the Quotidiano Sportivo speaks of a sort of blockade that Elliot has imposed on Mirabelli in recent months.

There are three actions practically performed by Mirabelli, transfer-related or not, that Elliott has blocked shortly after it was made clear that Yonghong Li would leave Milan. First the American fund blocked the signing of Brazilian left winger Bernard, free agent after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk. AC Milan had reached an agreement with the player, but Elliott vetoed the high many commissions to be paid to Bernard’s agents.

Another action of Mirabelli blocked by Elliot was the sale of Manuel Locatelli to Sassuolo. The two clubs had closed everything and a transfer fee of 12 million euros was agreed plus a buy-back clause in favor of Milan, but Elliott’s men preferred to keep the young midfielder, considered a guaranteed star of the future raised in the youth ranks of Milanello. Finally the Americans also rejected the idea of Mirabelli to have a friendly match between Milan and Cosenza, his former team, in July for purely organizational reasons.
