Roma rejected Milan offer for star midfielder

AC Milan tried to sign Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini this summer but their offer of 30 million euros was rejected by the Giallorossi.

Lorenzo Pellegrini is widely considered as one of the best youngsters in the Italian Serie A. After two years at Sassuolo, Roma decided to exercise their buy-back clause and signed the 22 year old central midfielder for 10 million euros in 2017. Last season the Italy international made 37 appearances for the capitol club, scoring 3 goals along the way.

Pellegrini is in his second year at Roma but the situation could have been different. In fact, the new AC Milan management tried to bring the central midfielder at San Siro this summer. Leonardo made an official offer to Roma but it was declined.

Il Corriere dello Sport, a source very close to the Giallorossi, reveals today that Serie A giants, Juventus, Inter and Milan, made official bids for the services of Lorenzo Pellegrini. It all happened in the very last days of the summer transfer window.

Even though the three offers matched the player’s release clause of 30 million euros, Roma and Pellegrini himself refused. Coach Di Francesco considers the 22 year old very important for his team and the player’s wish was to remain at Roma.
