AC Milan complete new signing in defence

AC Milan have completed the signing of Fode Ballo-Toure from Monaco. The 24-year-old will be Theo’s back-up in defence.

After a search that lasted more than six months, the Rossoneri have finally completed the signing of a new left-back that should be Theo Hernandez’s back-up. AC Milan have reached an agreement with Monaco for Senegalese defender Fode Ballo-Toure.

AC Milan and Monaco are negotiating the last details before the transfer is announced. Ballo-Toure will join AC Milan on loan with an option to make the transfer permanent for a figure of between 4 and 6 million euros. After failing to sign Junior Firpo, the Rossoneri were quick to complete a deal for the Monaco left-back whose contract expires in 2023.

At AC Milan Fode Ballo-Toure will meet again his former teammate Mike Maignan. Both played together for Lille for two seasons. Maignan will be Gianluigi Donnarumma’s successor in the goal.

Ballo-Toure has played in Ligue 1 for the last 5 years. He joined Monaco in 2019 from Lille for a fee of 11 million euros. Last season the 24-year-old made 29 appearances with Monaco providing 5 assists.

Ballo-Toure has represented France until the U-21 ranks before switching allegiance to Senegal in 2021. An athletic defender that blends pace and power to great effect, Toure is very similar to Theo Hernandez. Another thing that Toure does well is he crosses the ball a lot and likes to dribble.
