Atalanta name asking price for Milan target

AC Milan want to sign Atalanta 23-year-old right back Timothy Castagne. The Belgium interntional will be Abate’s replacement.

Atalanta and AC Milan are fighting for a place in Champions League next season. At the same time both clubs are negotiating transfer business with Timothy Castagne subject of interest from the Rossoneri.

In his second year in Italy, Castagne has become a regular starter for Atalanta and one of the best players in his role. The Rossoneri could undertake a revolution this summer and a new right back is needed to replace Ignazio Abate.

The Italian 32-year-old will not renew his contract with AC Milan and very likely will start a new adventure in the USA. Andrea Conti will be the only remaining right back in Gattuso’s disposal so a new signing is required.

Timothy Castagne has made 34 appearances this season scoring 5 goals and providing 5 assists. His contract expires in 2020 but Atalanta have the option for a further year. Two years ago Atalanta paid 6 million euros to buy him from Genk.

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan must pay 20 million euros to sign Castagne. Dealing with president Percassi is never easy so despite the delicate contractual situation Atalanta will not lower their asking price. In case of a successful operation, the entire right flank of AC Milan’s back line will be composed by Atalanta players with Conti also coming from the Bergamo club.
