AC Milan advance contacts with World Cup winner

AC Milan have advanced contacts with World Cup winner and Arsenal star Shkodran Mustafi a report from Tuttosport claims.

AC Milan’s summer campaign will depend a lot on the qualifying or not in Champions League, it’s not a novelty. Extra revenue from UEFA’s most prestigious competition would allow Leonardo and Paolo Maldini to move freely on the transfer market. Shkodran Mustafi is the new name on AC Milan’s radar.

With the likely departure of Zapata and Abate this summer, the Rossoneri are guaranteed to make at least one new signing in defence. The permanence of Mateo Musacchio is not guaranteed either because in case of an offer of more than 20 million euros the Argentine centre back could be sold. That’s why the management has started to move for a new defender.

According to Tuttosport, AC Milan are in advanced contacts for Shkodran Mustafi. The Arsenal defender is expected to leave the Gunners after three years in London. He has played over 100 games with Arsenal and has been a regular starter at the Emirates stadium. Apparently Mustafi is a suggestion of Ivan Gazidis. The new AC Milan CEO and former Arsenal executive was responsible for signing the 2014 World Cup winner.

In 2016 Arsenal paid 41 million euros to buy the Germany international from Valencia. Mustafi has past experience in Serie A playing for Sampdoria between 2012 and 2014. Now, the 27-year-old German of Albanian origins is worth 30 million euros and his contract expires next year. The centre back is reportedly very fond of a Serie A return plus Arsenal are open to sell.

The same reports also claims that Milan have advanced contacts for Timothy Castagne. The 23-year-old is a right back that can also play on the left. Castagne is one of Atalanta’s revelations this season scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists in 33 appearances. Atalanta value the player at around 10 million euros but Napoli are also very interested.
