Amid Milan links, Pochettino confirms Tottenham exit

Mauricio Pochettino is one of the candidates that can replace Gennaro Gattuso as AC Milan coach. According to the Italian press the former defensive midfielder will leave even in case of Champions League qualification.

Di Francesco, Gian Piero Gasperini, Simone Inzaghi and Marco Giampaolo are the Italian options that Leonardo and Maldini are considering for post-Gattuso but CEO Ivan Gazidis would prefer an international figure like Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino is in his fifth year at Tottenham and has guided the English club to a historic Champions League final. Despite a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Tottenham completed a spectacular comeback in Netherlands defeating Ajax 3-2 and reaching the final against Liverpool.

Pochettino’s words are music to Elliot ‘s ears. The American owners of AC Milan want a prestigious figure to lead their project at San Siro. However, Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the former centre back could demand a salary of 20 million euros per season. The same figure that Pepe Guardiola earns at Man City. In comparison, Max Allegri the highest paid coach in Serie A earns 7,5 million per year.
