AC Milan plan second Saelemaekers-like operation

AC Milan want to repeat the Saelemaekers operation and have targeted Yari Verschaeren for the attacking midfielder role.

When AC Milan announced the signing of Alexis Saelemaekers in January 2020 many raised their eyebrows. Few had ever heard the name of the Belgium right winger and welcomed him amongst general skepticism. Now, the 22-year-old winger is a key player for Stefano Pioli’s side.

A great signing from the management and one that they hope to replicate soon. In fact, AC Milan are monitoring closely Saelemaekers’ former teammate and Anderlecht attacking midfielder Yari Verschaeren.

Fichajes.net reports that Verschaeren and Charles De Ketelaere are two of AC Milan’s main transfer targets for the attacking midfielder role. Brahim Diaz is currently the only player in the squad with such characteristic and the Rossoneri plan to add another one, in January if possible.

Yari Verschaeren is one of the brightest talents in Belgium. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder made his debut in Jupiler Pro League in 2018 and has made 78 appearances with Anderlecht ever since. A young player but already with considerable experience to his name. Verschaeren has been on AC Milan’s list of targets for a long time.

The Anderlecht star has a contract until 2024 and the Belgians will not let him leave for at least 20 million euros. The new season has already started on the right foot for Verschaeren with 4 goals and 3 assists in 11 appearances so far. The Belgium gem has also made 6 appearances with the national team.
