The last January signing of AC Milan

AC Milan have resumed contacts with Napoli for Amadou Diawara. The defensive midfielder is unhappy with his low game time and was to leave.

While the first encounter between AC Milan and Napoli was very bitter for Gattuso’s side this time the Rossoneri gained a valuable point and keep hold of the fourth place in the standings. Yesterday’s match, according to Tuttosport, was also a good opportunity for the two clubs to resume contacts over Amadou Diawara. The Guinean player is very unhappy for his low game time under Ancelotti.

A midfielder and a winger. UEFA permitting, these will be the targets of the Rossoneri management until the end of the January transfer window. A new signing in midfield seemed to had been excluded but something could change because Riccardo Montolivo is negotiating a transfer to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande so Diawara could take his place at Milan.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is dissatisfied because he expected to collect the legacy of Jorginho. Carlo Ancelotti, rather, has preferred to adapt Marek Hamsik in the control room. Despite his obvious talent the former Bologna has fallen down the pecking order and now finds himself behind Allan, Fabian Ruiz and Piotr Zielinski in midfield hierarchy.

So far, president Aurelio De Laurentiis has proven difficult to negotiate with. Napoli don’t want to sell Diawara and are not fond of the idea of a dry loan. However, on the other hand, the low game time of Diawara continues to depreciate his price tag and no club seems willing to offer the 40 million euros that Napoli demanded for his services.

An offer of 30 million euros in cash would be enough for AC Milan to sign Amadou Diawara but after the 70 million spent for Paqueta and Piatek the club must beware of UEFA. Another meeting is scheduled after the Coppa Italia match (on Tuesday) between the two clubs. Sporting director Leonardo is hopeful of an agreement in the last days of the January transfer window. However, the priority at Casa Milan remains a new winger.
