Barcelona halve price for Milan target

Barcelona have cut in half their economic demands for 24 year old midfielder Denis Suarez, an old transfer target of AC Milan.

The search for a new central midfielder has entered in a crucial moment. Giacomo Bonaventura has undergone surgery in USA and will stay out for the remaining of the season while Lucas Biglia should return in late February. The absence of the two creative midfielders has forced coach Gennaro Gattuso to change formation and use Kessie and Bakayoko as a dam in midfield with pleasing results.

However, that’s only a temporary solution and Milan urgently need a new regista. For weeks sporting director Leonardo has been in negotiations with several targets. The biggest names linked with AC Milan are those of Cesc Fabregas, Leandro Paredes and Sefano Sensi with the Spaniard being the top targets (read here the updates).

Initially one of the first targets of AC Milan was Denis Suarez. The Rossoneri made an inquiry but were stunned by the high economic demands of Barcelona. Despite Denis Suarez being a bench player in his two years at Camp Nou, Barcelona wanted 40 million euros. Pushed back by such irrational Leonardo concentrated on other targets.

According to report by The Daily Mirror, Barcelona have halved the price tag set for 24 year old central midfielder. Now the Blaugrana require “just” 20 million for Denis Suarez and would be willing to accept even loan with the right or obligation to buy. It has been reported that it’s Suarez himself who is desperately pushing for a move away from Barcelona.

Denis Suarez excelled at Villarreal and Sevilla with whom he won the Europa League but has struggled for game time in his return at Barcelona. So far Suarez has made a single 8 minute appearances in La Liga, for a total of 5 games (210 minutes in overall) in all competitions this season.
