Arsenal inquire about Milan star

Premier League club Arsenal are the latest team to show interest in signing AC Milan talented goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The season of Gianluigi Donnarumma can be considered without a doubt an excellent one. The 20-year-old Italian goalkeeper was the main reason why AC Milan were in the Champions League race until the very last moment. After a difficult past season, Gigio once gain confirmed he’s one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.

After a very positive year, it’s obvious that Donnarumma’s name figures on the lists of transfer targets of many European top clubs. His price fell considerably last summer, at around 40 million, but Gigio is again one of the most in-demand stars and only an important figure could tempt Milan to sell the Italian giant.

Several Premier League clubs are interested in a summer move for Donnarumma. Tuttomercatoweb confirms that, in addition to Manchester United, Arsenal too have targeted the Rossoneri wonderkid. Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is ending his career after the Europa League final while his younger substitute, Bernd Leno, has not completely convinced.

Completing a transfer for Donnarumma is not going to be an easy feat. AC Milan believe Gigio is near Alisson’s level and only a similar offer of 70 million euros could tempt the Rossoneri to sell their most prized asset. Arsenal have inquired on his availability but the English club doesn’t seem inclined to spend such a high fee for a goalkeeper.

Despite the high interested in his services, the Italy international is not thinking about changing club. Donnarumma wants to stay at San Siro and help his squad achieve Champions League next season. He has a contract with Milan until 2021 and soon the parties are expected to sit down and negotiate an extension.
