AC Milan challenge Inter for defensive target

AC Milan are challenging Inter for the services of Joachim Andersen. The 22 year old Sampdoria defender has been a revelation this seasion in Serie A.

The derby was bitter for the Rossoneri but very soon AC Milan and Inter could face each-other again this time off the pitch. The two eternal rivals are both interested in Joachim Andersen who is attracting lots of attention with his performances at Sampdoria. In his two years in Italy the Danish defender has become one of the best talents in Serie A.

The 22-year-old centre back is subject of interest from AC Milan and many other clubs. Especially Inter who bought Milan Skriniar from Sampdoria in 2017 and would like to repeat the same operation. However, competition is not lacking and Inter are not considered as favorites.

According to the latest reports by Calciomercato, AC Milan have intensified contacts for Andersen. Rossoneri scouts were present in Atalanta-Sampdoria and Sassuolo-Sampdoria to follow him closely. The former FC Twente defender has also been called up by the national team of Denmark recently.

Sampdoria value Joachim Andersen no less than 30 million euros. A hefty price tag for the young centre back who this season became a regular starter. It must be said that Milan already has a young defender like Mattia Caldara who could potentially be next season’s starter alongside Alessio Romagnoli.

However, given the uncertainties about the permanence of Cristian Zapata (contract expiring in June 2019), it is possible that Milan sign another centre back this summer. Though competition for Andersen is high, he’s exactly the type of player the new management appreciates. Sampdoria on the other hand hope to start an auction for a player who was paid less than 2 million in summer 2017.
