Repubblica: Kaio Jorge arrival to be followed by striker sale

AC Milan are closing in on the signing of Kaio Jorge. The arrival of the Brazilian talent could be followed by the sale of Rafael Leao.

After Olivier Giroud, Milan are aiming to complete another signing in attack soon. This time, however, it is a young player, the 19-year-old Kaio Jorge that has been playing for Santos since 2018. The contract of the Brazilian expires on 31 December and therefore in January he could leave Santos as a free agent but the Rossoneri want him immediately.

AC Milan plan to make Jorge available to Stefano Pioli in August, paying a small compensation to the Brazilian club. According to La Repubblica (via MilanNews.it), AC Milan are about to close the purchase of Kaio Jorge for around €4 million with last details being currently discussed.

Unlike last season, coach Stefano Pioli will have three strikers at his disposal. The AC Milan management is planning to have the Brazilian starlet grow alongside two experienced strikers like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud.

However, with the imminent arrival of Kaio Jorge, the space for Rafael Leao will be limited considerably. Many had hoped that last season the Portuguese striker would have made a leap forward and cement himself as a regular in Pioli’s eleven but unfortunately that was not the case. Leao scored 7 goals and assisted 6 in 40 appearances but was unable to contribute especially in a time of great need during the absence of Ibrahimovic.

The former Lille talent has admirers in the Premier League with Wolverhampton the frontrunners for his services. AC Milan are open to selling Rafael Leao if an offer of €30 million arrives. His agent Jorge Mendes is expected to return in Milano for a new round of talks with the Rossoneri.
