Milan striker Andre Silva regrets joining Sevilla

AC Milan loanee Andre Silva is enjoying his time in Spain but the Portuguese admits he would have preferred to remain at San Siro.

AC Milan striker Andre Silva regrets joining Sevilla. Despite scoring 7 goals in 10 La Liga appearances the Portuguese 23 year old insists he would rather be playing in the Italian Serie A.

Andre Silva’s first year at San Siro was a very difficult one. The former Porto talent failed to justify the 38 million euros AC Milan paid for him last year and in 24 league appearances he scored only 2 goals. Silva fared much better in Europa League finding the back of the net on 8 occasions. However the disappointing performances in Serie A relegated him to third choice in attack behind the emerging Patrick Cutrone and Nikola Kalinic.

I am working to become the best striker in the World. I didn’t want to leave AC Milan, I just wanted to be able to play more. I wanted to have more opportunities and be the Andre that I always was. But I definitely needed more game time. I couldn’t play for Benfica or Sporting. My heart belongs to Porto. I had many options but in the end, I said yes to Sevilla. Now I am here and I feel I’ve done the best possible choice”, Andre Silva told Portuguese paper A Bola.

The Portuguese is currently on loan at Sevilla. The Spanish club have paid 5 million euros and have to right to make the move permanent at the end of the season for 30 million more. The management of Sevilla have informed the Rossoneri about their intentions to buy the 23 year old but so far the parties have not agreed on a transfer.

Silva left the Rossoneri in a very difficult when a new ownership change was taking place and the future of the club was still unclear. It seems that new owners Elliot and the presence of Leonardo and Paolo Maldini have made Silva to reconsider his decision.
