Pioli has explicitly asked AC Milan to sign €35m winger

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has explicitly asked the Rossoneri to sign Sassuolo right winger Domenico Berardi.

With Champions League qualification secured, the Rossoneri are now focused on the mercato. AC Milan have solved the goalkeeper issue signing Mike Magnan star from Lille. The fresh Ligue 1 champion will replace the departing Gianluigi Donnarumma. Now, the Rossoneri are looking to improve the attack and among the priorities is the arrival of a top right winger.

Journalist Andrea Longoni reports that coach Stefano Pioli has specifically asked AC Milan to sign Domenico Berardi. The left-footed right winger of Sassuolo could be the “Champions purchase” of Milan this summer. The Rossoneri have not been able to fully replaced a player with the characteristics of Suso.

Domenico Berardi will soon turn 27 and is at the crucial moment of his career. The flamboyant winger is part of Mancini’s pre-squad list for Euro 2020 after a great season with Sassuolo. Berardi has found the back of the net on 17 occasions, providing 8 assists in 30 league appearances.

AC Milan desperately need a creative winger able to unlock games against highly defensive clubs. Alexis Saelemaekers gives a great tactical contribution but his numbers in terms of goals, assists and key passes are a bit low while Samuel Castillejo will be sold.

The Italian winger has been part of Sassuolo for the past 9 seasons scoring a total of 105 goals in 291 appearances. Berardi has a contract until 2024 and Sassuolo rate him around 35 million euros. However, Milan need to solve the Calhanoglu situation first. If the Turkish attacking midfielder stays and the Rossoneri would have a much higher budget to spend for a new right winger.
