Sky: AC Milan to ditch Botman for Bremer

AC Milan are set to abandon talks for Lille defender Sven Botman and concentrate on Bremer reports Sky Sport.

In January AC Milan made a concrete attempt to sign Lille centre back Sven Botman to replace Simon Kjaer who was injured. Despite the Rossoneri’s persistence the French club were adamant to keep their powerful defender until the end of the season rejecting offers from every interested club.

AC Milan have already agreed personal terms with the 22 year-old. However, there is still no agreement with Lille despite a general consensus over a 33 million transfer fee. The AC Milan owners have yet to give the green light to this transfer and there is a serious risk that everything might collapse soon.

Sky Sport reports that Milan are oriented to ditch Botman in favor of Bremer. Bremer has always been on AC Milan’s radar as an alternative to Botman. Inter are currently in negotiations to sign the Brazilian centre back from Torino but an agreement seems far. Torino would prefer to sell Bremer to Milan with the hope of including Pobega in the operation.

AC Milan risk paying a heavy price for dragging Botman talks for so long. Newcastle have never given up on the Netherlands international and are tempting him with a higher salary. Newcastle are also offering Lille 40 million, a figure that the Rossoneri can’t match. The player is reportedly unhappy with talks continuing for so long and without results reports Sky.

Meanwhile Bremer represents a safe bet for the Red and Blacks. Bremer is familiar with Serie A and would less than the Dutch. The 25-year-old Brazilian defender was author of a fantastic season on a personal level. Bremer was named the best defender of Serie A for the past season.
