Milan vs Sassuolo, probable lineups

AC Milan risk being with several important players for the upcoming Serie A match against Sassuolo.

The Rossoneri host Sassuolo at the San Siro today. A victory in Milan vs Sassuolo would help Stefano Pioli’s side cement their second place in Serie A standings. The Rossoneri need to continue their winning streak specially considering that other direct opponents like Atalanta, Roma, Napoli and Lazio face each-other.

Unfortunately, Pioli will likely be without several important players for today’s match. In the press conference yesterday the Italian coach confirmed that Bennacer, Ibrahimovic, Calhanoglu and Theo Hernandez risk skipping Milan vs Sassuolo because of injuries.

Theo has not recovered in time so it will be Diogo Dalot to take his place with Davide Calabria returning on the right. Captain Alessio Romagnoli is eager to start form the first minute but Pioli relies strongly on the partnership of Kjaer and Tomori at the heart of the defence.

The absence of Bennacer gives Soualiho Meite the chance to start alongside Franck Kessie in midfield. Regarding the attacking trio behind the striker the situation is not yet clear. Castillejo and Saelemaekers are fighting to start on the right with the Belgium winger favorite according to Gazzetta. Pioli seems oriented to risk Calhanoglu from the first miunte while Rebic completes the trio.

The unfortunate injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic means that Rafael Leao will lead the attack once more. The Swedish striker was suspended for one match and was supposed to make his return for Milan vs Sassuolo.

AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Dalot; Meite, Kessie; Saelemaekers (Castillejo), Calhanoglu, Rebic, Rafael Leao.

SASSUOLO (4-2-3-1): Consigli, Muldor, Marlon, Ferrari, Rogerio, Obiang, Lucatelli, Berardi, Djuricic, Boga, Defrel.
