AC Milan have 5-name list for the new midfielder

AC Milan are looking at a serious of new names to replace Franck Kessie after missing out on Sanches and Chukwuemeka.

AC Milan have just completed the purchase of Charles De Ketelaere. However, the Rossoneri have missed out on their top two targets for the midfield. As expected, Renato Sanches has preferred the much more lucrative contract offer of Paris Saint-Germain while Carney Chukwuemeka moved to Chelsea for a fee of €24 million.

Nevertheless, Maldini and Massara are not getting caught off guard. AC Milan have a 5-names list of targets to replace Franck Kessie. The first two names are from Serie A. Hellas Verona duo Adrien Tameze and Ivan Ilic have attracted the Rossoneri attention with their performances. Both are on the market this summer. While Tameze is more similar to Kessie, Ilic, a former Manchester City talent, is a more creative nature.

Lens captain Seko Fofana would perhaps be the ideal player to replace Kessie. The 27-year-old midfielder had another fantastic season in France scoring 10 goals and assisting 2 in 41 appearances with Lens. Fofana has past experience in Serie A having played for four seasons with Udinese. In fact, Seko Fofana was the preferred choice of AC Milan to replace Kessie when he was set to join Monaco in 2019. Fofana’s market value of €25 million is prohibitive for Milan but his contract expires in two seasons.

Another very interesting option is Florian Grillitsch. The 26-year-old Austrian international is being followed by a number of teams after refusing to extend his contract with Hoffenheim and entering free agency. At one point Grillitsch was set to join Fiorentina but everything collapsed at the last moment. Grillitsch has been offered to AC Milan and Maldini is seriously considering his candidacy.

The last name on the list is another Lille player. AC Milan are impressed by Amadou Onana but the 20-year-old is in the middle of a fierce battle between West Ham and Everton. Onana looks poised for a €35 million transfer very soon. Despite the good relationship between AC Milan and Lille, the Italian champions are unable to match that asking price.
