Milan, new arrivals flop: only 3 survive

After the important investments in the summer everyone was expecting a different Milan. Unfortunately the new faces have yet to unveil their true potential.

With the great revolution in the summer transfer window, that saw eleven new purchases arrive in Milanello, in the rossoneri’s home everyone was hoping to see a different Milan than the one of the last few seasons, but unfortunately so far things are not going as some in via Aldo Rossi were hopping. In particular, those who have disappointed the most are the newcomers, who need more time to settle down than initially expected.

DISAPPOINTMENT – Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, explains that the many summer signings should have increased the technical level of the team, something that for the moment is not happening. New arrivals have particularly disappointed in Serie A, where the only ones having a sufficient average rating are Nikola Kalinic, Andre Silva and Andrea Conti (injured). The one with the lowest average rating is captain Bonucci, while Ricardo Rodriguez, who had the best rating until yesterday, collapsed after the naive penalty that helped Inter win the derby.

DIFFICULTIES OF FAMILIARIZATION – Obviously, putting together so many new players is not easy and it takes time to mix them up. It is also true, however, that it is more than reasonable to expect more from these players, especially after spending 230 million euros in the summer to bring them in San Siro. The familiarization for the new player is going slow for different reasons: Leo Bonucci, for example, is physically behind, while Kessie is struggling after a good start of the season. Andre Silva, on the other hand, is struggling to be decisive even in Serie A while excelling in Europa League, the same as Calhanoglu who is suffering a lot after staying out for four months.
