AC Milan target two players for the role of vice-Kessie

AC Milan are determined to make an important signing in midfield. A new player is needed that can act as vice-Kessie, Leonardo has already identified two targets.

Leonardo is not losing any time. The new technical director is conscious that he has only 3 weeks left until the transfer market window ends on 17 August at 19:00. The goal is obviously to improve the current squad available to coach Rino Gattuso. Sky Sport confirms today that the Rossoneri are still in search of a vice-Kessie and the Brazilian director has already identified two targets.

The first and most viable option on economic terms is Diadie Samassékou. The 22 year old defensive midfielder plays for Red Bull Salzburg and has a contract until next June 2019. A highly promising player who can also act as central midfielder. Samassékou is the most valuable player or RB Salzburg and at normal times he would cost around 30 million euros but considering he has only one year remaining on his contract Leonardo has the chance to sign him for much less. A real bargain.

Last season he made 50 appearances between Austrian Bundesliga (29), domestic cups and Europa League (12). Despite having played mainly in front of the defense, he was booked only 7 times and once received a red card. Perhaps the best profile for the role of vice-Kessie but not only. Samassékou could become a regular starter for AC Milan in the future.

The other target is Tiemoué Bakayoko, 23 year old defensive midfielder of Chelsea. He failed to live up to expectations in his first year in England but his price tag is much more than the aforementioned Samassekou. Coach Sarri does not consider him part of his plans for next season and the London side could be open to a loan move.
