AC Milan duo set for late transfer to Qatar?

AC Milan duo Lucas Biglia and Fabio Borini have been linked with a move to Qatar where the transfer window closes on 30 September.

The Chinese clubs have made crazy investments in recent years to sign some of Europe’s top stars but Qatar Stars League is trying to catch up in this direction with Al Duhail a new destination for many players that have graced the old continent for years.

Al Gharafa are currently in negotiations to sign Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic but he may not be the only Serie A star to end up in Qatar. According to Calciomercato.it, Qatari clubs are interested in AC Milan duo Lucas Biglia and Fabio Borini.

The transfer window in Qatar closes on September 30th thus offering local clubs the opportunity to keep reinforcing their ranks. Both players are not first-team regulars at San Siro so under the right economic conditions Milan will certainly consider their sale.

This is certainly going to be Lucas Bilgia’s last season at San Siro, the only doubt is if he will stay until the end of the season (read here his possible 3 replacements). The contract of the Argentine midfielder expires in June and will not be renewed. Milan aim to bring a new defensive midfielder when the winger transfer window opens so if Biglia doesn’t fly to Qatar he’s every likely to leave in January.

However, there is much more interest in Qatar for Fabio Borini. The 28-year old Italian winger is a popular figure in the dressing room and has a contract with Milan until 2021.

Borini was very close to a move in China last January but things fell apart when minor details were being discussed. Indeed the polyvalent striker is not part of the starting eleven but he’s played an useful role under Montella, Gattuso and likely even with Marco Giampaolo. AC Milan want €10 million for Fabio Borini.
