Leonardo hits out at Higuain for his lack of commitment

AC Milan sporting director Leonardo commented on Gonzalo Higuain revealing his unhappiness with the disappointing form of the Argentine in recent months.

Today was the big day of Lucas Paqueta. The 35 million euros investment of AC Milan was presented before the media alongside president Paolo Scaroni and management duo Leonardo and Maldini. Aside Paqueta, Gonzalo Higuain was another topic of discussion.

The Argentine striker arrived at San Siro as part of the swap deal that saw Bonucci return to Juventus in exchange for Caldara. AC Milan paid 18 million euros for his loan and reserve the right to make his stay permanent for an additional 36 million. But after a bright start Higuain has faded quickly in the last two months doubts have emerged on whether AC Milan will purchase him at the end of the season or not.

A few minutes ago, Leonardo fired a warming to El Pipita, saying the striker must get to work and improve. “He has to make a decision and take on his share of the responsibility. Not this continual yes, no, maybe, I’m not sure. He had a tough moment, he has to put it behind him and get to work. There’s no point following rumors and gossip. He is here right now. Seeing as he is here, he needs to get down and actually do something for this team“.

In 16 Serie A appearances Higuain has scored 6 goals and has provided one assist. He went on goalless for two months before finding the back of the net in the match of last year against Spal. Hopefully he will fare batter in the Sunday Coppa Italia match with Sampdoria and later in the Super Cup final against Juventus. AC Milan have no intention of tolerating.
