Milan transfer moves – Who stays, who leaves and who is in doubt

The new AC Milan of Montella, Fassone and Mirabelli has started to take shape. After several signing it’s time to consider the future of the players currently part of the rossoneri.

DEPARTING

Gabriel: He did well while playing for Carpi in Serie B. Last year at Napoli he was just a substitute. He moved to Cagliari in exchange for Storari. Milan will loan him again this season, probably at SPAL.

Rodrigo Ely: One of the seven Milan players represented by Mino Raiola (read here). He was loaned in Spain at Alaves this season and will move again, this time forever. A couple of teams in Spain and Portugal are after him.

Jherson Vergara: The 23 year old defender was loaned at Arsenal Tula in Russia this season and again will leave. His contract with the rossoneri expires in 2019.

Mattia De Sciglio: His contract expires next season but he will leave after a serious clash with the fans and the club. Milan are waiting for the highest bid and are not willing to consider anything less than 15 millions for him.

Jose Mauri: He was loaned at Empoli to play more minutes but it didn’t go well. Bologna and other clubs have expressed interest to take him on loan.

Keisuke Honda: He arrived at Milan in 2014 from Cska Moscow. His contract expires in two weeks and he will probably move in USA.

Andrea Poli: He is a big Milan fan since his early childhood and no matter what the name of the manager has been he has always played a few minutes. Bologna are favorites to sign him.

Mario Pasalic: He enjoyed a good first season at Milan but Milan has decided not to renew his loan. The club has decided to sign new players for the midfield and he will return at Chelsea.

Gerard Deulofeu: Since he arrived in January he has been one of the best rossoneri players. Milan wanted to keep him but Barcelona have decided to activate the recompra clause, signing him for 12 millions.

Lucas Ocampos: He arrived with Deulofeu in January without managing to leave any trace. He will return at Marseille.

Carlos Bacca: Rumors suggest there are a lot of teams after his services but no one has presented, till now, a decent offer to Milan. He wants to return in Spain at Sevilla but that’s not possible. Bacca’s 38 goals in two years were not enough to conquer San Siro..

Patrick Cutrone: He made debut in Serie A while Milan vs Bologna was playing. The young attacker will sign a new contract and move on loan to gain experience.

M’baye Niang: In January, with Montella’s request, Milan decided to loan the French attacker in England at Watford. Everton are close to sign him (read here) but lately Arsenal have expressed interest.

IN DOUBT

Gianluigi Donnarumma: He has decided to reject Milan renewal (read here). Now the rossoneri have to decide whether to keep him and risk losing him for free next year or sell him immediately. PSG and Real Madrid are interested but Donnarumma seriously risks spending the entire next season on the bench.

Alessandro Plizzari: His destiny is closely tied to Donnarumma’s (read here). If Gigio stays he will move on loan to play first team football otherwise he will say at Milan and be second goalkeeper to Donnarumma’s replacement.

Gustavo Gómez: Milan were unable to sign Musacchio last year and Galliani decided to take Gomez as an alternative. Now Musacchio is finally part of Milan. Everton is inquiring about him and negotiations continue. His value is 5-8 millions.

Cristián Zapata: One of the most experienced defenders in the team. Torino is interested in hi and Milan have twice offered the Colombian as one of the players in exchange for Belotti.

Leonel Vangioni: He may stay or leave, there’s a 50/50 chance. SPAL have asked to sign him on loan while Milan have asked for time to consider the situation.

Gabriel Paletta: Has one year remaining in his contract but will probably leave sooner. His agent has asked to discuss the renewal otherwise the player will leave with Atalanta the most likely destination.

Mati Fernández: One of Montella’s protege’s. If Milan decide to permanently sign him they will have to pay Fiorentina 1 million euros. That is a probable option only if the rossoneri fail to sign their midfield objetives.

Juraj Kucka: Strong interest from Antalyaspor but he is not convinced to go in Turkey. Mihajlovic is ready to rejoin him at Torino.

Andrea Bertolacci: Galliani signed Bertolacci for 20 millions, what a waste of money. In two years he has never demonstrated to worth such a figure. Two years filled with muscular injuries. His price tag is now 10 millions.

Gianluca Lapadula: One of the players likely to leave bu nothing is certain yet. Atalanta, Genoa, Torino, Fiorentina and Brighton are after him. Milan hope to include him in Belotti negotiations.

CONFIRMED TO STAY

Marco Storari: He has renewed his contract for another year and no matter who will be Milan’s starting keeper, Storari will be his replacement.

Alessio Romagnoli: A pillar in defense, untouchable.

Ignazio Abate: One of the many Milan players represented by Raiola. Andrea Conti is expected to cover the right defensive flank with Abate as his substitute.

Luca Antonelli: Has barely played lately due to several muscular problems. He is 30 years and a youth sector product. A perfect substitute for Rodriguez.

Davide Calabria Milan has no intention to let go one of its jewels. Together with Donnarumma and Locatelli he is part of Italy U21 playing in Euro Cup.

Giacomo Bonaventura: Another player represented by Raiola. One of Milan’s best, enough said.

Riccardo Montolivo: The captain will remain despite rumors suggesting otherwise. Even if Milan manage to sign Lucas Biglia from Lazio, Montolivo will stay.

José Sosa: His contract expires next year. Milan have no intention to offer the renewal but he will stay even next season. Recently rejected an offer from Antalyaspor, the club could use his experience.

Manuel Locatelli: One Milan’s most wanted players in the transfer market. Locatelli will stay put and continue his steady growth.

Suso: He has yet to sign the renewal but that is considered to be just a formality. After the Donnarumma chaos, Fassone and Mirabelli will do everything necessary to keep him in San Siro for long. Napoli and Roma are chasing the Spaniard but he is not for sale.
