MN: Signings and exits, AC Milan’s plan for January

AC Milan have prioritized the signing of a new defender while two players are destined to leave in January reports MilanNews.

The Scudetto remains the biggest ambition but to get there AC Milan will need both the players returning from injuries and some reinforcements from the transfer market. The Rossoneri squad, as stated by Paolo Maldini, is indeed already competitive but it is clear that in some departments more quality is necessary.

SIGNINGS: the priority is the defender

The priority of course is to find a substitute for Simon Kjaer. The absence of the Danish centre back is a very big problem for coach Stefano Pioli who has lost not just one of the best defenders in Italy until the end of the season but also a leader of the squad.

Milan are looking at a number of names to replace Kjaer like Botman of Lille, Abdou Diallo of PSG, Bremer of Torino and Milenkovic of Fiorentina. Maldini’s strategy is clear: either an immediate purchase or a signing in Tomori-style. Regarding the midfield, Milan tried to recall Yacine Adli in advance but without success. Nevertheless, the Rossoneri will be attentive to the opportunities the mercato may offer reports MilanNews.it.

EXITS: Castillejo and Conti ready to leave

Signings in attack will depend much on sales. Samuel Castillejo is out of Pioli’s consideration and must find a new club in order play. AC Milan hope to recoup 8 million euros from his sale with Genoa very interested in his services. A return to Spain is also possible.

Next in line is Andrea Conti. An outcast player with his contract expiring at the end of the season. The Rossoneri are reportedly willing to let him go on a free transfer just to save on his salary. Empoli could be the next destination of Andrea Conti for whom AC Milan spent 24 million euros in 2017.
