Morata vs Higuain, who’s the best striker: the comparison

Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain are at the center of transfers rumors these days but a comparison between the two leave no room for doubt on who is the most prolific striker.

There is no doubt that Maurizio Sarri has great esteem towards Gonzalo Higuain and has reiterated it on several occasions. Surely he would prefer to have El Pipita rather than Alvaro Morata, a striker who has not yet managed to establish himself as a great bomber. The Spaniard certainly has important technical qualities but he lacks continuity at goal scoring.

Today La Gazzetta dello Sport makes a comparison between the two strikers. The fact that Higuain is more prolific than his colleague is highlighted. The Argentine has scored 116 goals in Serie A in the last six seasons, 153 overall in all competitions. Morata, in the same span of time, is way behind at 51 goals in the various leagues (Serie A with Juventus, La Liga with Real Madrid and Premier League with Chelsea) and 74 in overall. Half, in practice. Age is on Morata’s side but the leap in quality is late in coming.

Sarri is preferring more the experienced Olivier Giroud or a false 9, a definitely important signal. The Spanish already with Antonio Conte had some difficulties, after a bright start. The former Napoli coach brought out the best in Higuain when the two worked between 2015 and 2016. In that season El Pipita scored 36 goals in Serie A, a league record. The relationship between the two is excellent and the Italian coach was desperate to bring the player to London last summer but Chelsea did not want to make a major investment for an over 30 player.

Gennaro Gattuso has already said he wants to hold on to Higuain. Even if the South American bomber is going through a difficult period, he is not the problem of AC Milan. It is the team that can not put him in a position to score. The Rossoneri club apparently have no intention of selling him and at the end of the season Milan will make Higuain’s stay at San Siro permanent paying Juventus 36 million euros despite the various rumors circulated lately.
